"Also details on clipboard--where is the clipboard?"

The clipboard is part of your computer's operating system, not part of MuseScore itself. What MuseScore does have is three commands accessed from the Edit menu: Cut, Copy or Paste.

Within MuseScore you can cut or copy a section of music, which stores the section in the computer's clipboard (memory).

Within MuseScore you can then place your cursor where you want the section to be inserted and paste the section from the computer's clipboard.

Further, Cut, Copy, and Paste are available in a large majority of programs, not just MuseScore. You can often find them in an Edit menu and the keyboard shortcuts for them are (usually) ...

Ctrl+X = Cut
Ctrl+C = Copy
Ctrl+V = Paste

Notice that they are along the bottom left of your keyboard. Ctrl+Z at the far left is also usually set to a useful command: Undo. These four shortcut keys are a thing to memorize since they will be the case in a large majority of programs, even in the OS itself (certainly Windows and in many implementations of Unix; don't know about Mac?).
