Hi Lucky,

Everything is in place: The Indonesian language has been added to the MuseScore software as well as the musescore.org website. It's just waiting for you now ;-)

To get started, let's translate the teaser page on musescore.org first:
- go to http://musescore.org/node/1
- click on the translate tab
- click on the 'add translation' link in the line of Indonesian
- now replace all the English text with the translation but leave the special html markup in
- once finished, hit the submit button and check your result at http://musescore.org/id

In the meantime, can you give me the Indonesian translation for:
- Free music composition & notation software
- Free Download
- Version 0.9.5
- Licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, 2002-2010 Werner Schweer and others

Once you have completed these steps, we can continue with either the software translation, either the manual.

Dear Thomas,

Thank you for the opportunity, I have finished translating the teaser page. You have requested me to translate this item below :

- Free music composition & notation software
- Free Download
- Version 0.9.5
- Licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, 2002-2010 Werner Schweer

but I do not know where to find them. Can you give a link of where can I download them. I will be waiting for your reply, thank you

Regards,

Lucky

Hi Lucky,

Great you are jumping into it right away.

About the teaser page: As you will see at http://musescore.org/id , you may remove the English text when you add in your translation. Don't worry about making a mistake. Everything is revisioned so in case you removed something, we can always go back to a previous revision.

Regarding the separate strings: I was not clear in my comment. Simply add the translation for each of the strings in a comment. Only I can put these strings in the website interface.

Next you can choose.

For translating the software, simply go to http://translate.musescore.org (also in the menu in the right sidebar under 'Translate'), click on Indonesian and perhaps watch the video tutorial on http://translate.musescore.org/translate/languages/id

For the menu pages which you can find on http://musescore.org/en , proceed the same way as you have done for the teaser page. Click on the English version, hit translate tab, add translation, replace the English text with the Indonesian translation and finally hit the submit button. You will see the menu page added in the menu with the English naming, but I will eventually change this to your Indonesian translation.

For the handbook pages, I still need one more translation from you. Can you add in a comment what the Indonesian word is for 'handbook' or 'manual'?

Dear Thomas,

Thank you for your reply. I would like to revise my translation for the teaser page that I have done yesterday, how can I do this? About the strings, I think I mistakably thinks that it is some kind of documents that I have to download.... well after I read it again, it means that you want me to translate those word, well I can give you the translation right away below:

- Free music composition & notation software "Perangkat lunak gratis untuk komposisi dan notasi musik"
- Free Download "Unduh Gratis"
- Version 0.9.5 "Versi 0.9.5"
- Licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, 2002-2010 Werner Schweer "Memiliki lisensi berdasarkan lisensi Atribusi Kreatif Umum 3.0, 2002-2010 Werner Schweer"
- Handbook "Buku Panduan"
- Manual / Manual Book "Manual" / "Buku Manual"

There you go.... Sorry for the misunderstanding of tour request... ;)
About Indonesian translation from English, There are a lot of English words that do not have compatible translation in Indonesian words, so I have to use English words for the translation. e.g. Synthesizer, Virtual, etc. Those words are used in the same exact English words by Indonesian. :)

Well, I will be waiting for your reply then. thank you.

Regards,

Lucky

Hi Lucky,

Thank you for the translation of the strings. They are in now as you will be able to see at http://musescore.org/id

For editing a page:
- Normally it is as simple as viewing the Indonesian page and then click on the 'Edit' tab next to the 'View' tab.
- The teaser page is the only special page since there is no direct link to it. You can find it back via this link. Once you clicked on it, simply hit the Edit tab and make your changes.

I would say, don't hesitate to try things out and make a translation from e.g. the menu pages which can see on http://musescore.org/en . Let's take the screenshots page as a trial.
- Click on Screenshots in the menu
- Hit the Translate tab
- Add a translation for Indonesian
- Replace all the English text for the Indonesian translation
- Hit submit and see your work at: http://musescore.org/id
You will see that the menu will feature 'Screenshots' in English but that it is in fact linking to your Indonesian page. I'll make sure that the menu name gets changed.

Don't hesitate to come back to me with more questions or remarks.

Hi Lucky,

I noticed that you started with translating the handbook. As you will see, there is special markup being used in the form of [[nodetitle: ... ]] . This is a dynamic link to the handbook page which has the exact title as what is written in between [[nodetitle:here come the handbook title]]

Does this make sense for you? If you wish more help, I can make a video tutorial.

Dear Thomas,

Can I download all of musecore English web page that can be translated into Indonesian, I am planning to translate all of this website in offline mode and the send the translation to you so that you can update it to your server. I have to do this because I do not always have internet connection and I do not have internet connection at home (poor Indonesian..... :( hiks.... hiks....), currently I use my office internet connection, but recently my office enforce a new regulation that forbids internet use other than for work / job purpose and all traffic will be monitored. So in order for me to finish the translation as soon as possible, I have to do it off line. Can you help me on this matter? And if I finished my translation, where can I send it?

I will be waiting for your reply soon, thank you.

Lucky

Hi Lucky,

Currently there is no functionality in place for downloading the English source handbook all at once.

First of all, find attached the mscore_id.ts file which holds the software text. You can translate this file locally using QT software: http://musescore.org/qt-linguist

Second, I attached a csv file of the English handbook. I hope you can handle csv files. If not, let me know.
Make sure you preserve all the special markup and the line breaks.

Let me know if you need more help.

Attachment Size
mscore_id.ts 252.63 KB
handbook.csv 73.92 KB

I downloaded the "handbook.csv" file and it opened automatically in Microsoft Excel 2003. I noticed that it didn't handle the Unicode correctly. (For example the arrow in line 22 and the Mac command symbol line 283). Just something to be aware of. It displays correctly for me in Notepad++ but you have to be really careful that the semi-colons (";") aren't removed.

It would be a good idea to translate a small section and then attach it in a comment. That way we can check everything worked before you continue translating the rest.

Dear Thomas,

I have downloaded the files you mentioned, and will try to complete its translation ASAP (may be a month or two). then I will contact you again on where can I submit it. Regarding the QT Software, it is the first time I use it, so I have to learn about it first, this will take some time for me, but I will try to learn as fast as I can.

By the way, the MuseScore it self runs very slowly on my PC, may be because mine were old (celeron 1 Ghz Processor). And the sound cannot be changed to the default standard GS sound registered inside my sound card, so I have to download a standard GS soundfont separately in order to use MoseScore. I hope that in the future MuseScore can read the default standard GS sound registered inside sound cards.

Well, that is all for now, I'll be back soon...

Regards,

Lucky

Hi Lucky,

Take your time with the translation. 0.9.6 will be released in the meantime, but users will be able to download your latest updates and put them into their local MuseScore install.

Regarding the MuseScore performance: MuseScore does indeed consume some processing power, especially on playback. The more parts in the score, the more consuming. Werner, the lead developer, has currently no intention to adapt the software to make it work with GS sound via the sound cards. It is a choice one makes, knowing that computers will become faster every year.
