Transposing and stems up/down in RC1
TRANSPOSING - RC1: Thanks, thanks, thanks for the huge improvements in transposing. It has reduced the time to 'fix up' transposed sheets by 90%. What a huge productivity improvement.
One question regarding transposing. Is it possible to have Musescore also recompute stems up / stems down during transposing?
For example: Transposing a 'A' above middle C down to a 'D' above middle C (7 semitones) it would be nice to have the option for Musescore to switch the stem from 'down' to 'up'.
When transposing, I most cases, this is the only editing that is required after the transpose.
With this exception, transposing is almost good enough that I could always store the tune in it's original key and transpose upon printing as needed--thus no having to maintain multiple copies in multiple keys.

Stem directions do flip automatically (at least for me, 0.9.6 RC1, Windows 7). The only reason I can think why they might not flip for you on a particular piece is if you manually set the stem direction on a note. Could you give an example?
EDIT: Could you explain your first example more fully? What clef are you using? What note do you mean by "middle C"?

In my case, I am working with lead sheets which contain only a treble clef.
By 'middle C' I mean C4 (261.626 Hz). So 'C' above middle C would be C5.
Many of the scores that I am working on originated as MusicXML files, so I don't know for sure if the stem direction had previously been manually specified.
Is there a way in Musescore to determine is the stems for a note were manually specified?
Is is possible to remove any manual stem direction data prior to performing a transpose action so that stem directions will automatically be calculated by the transpose engine?

Yes. right click on a note -> note properties -> stem direction

A plugin would be ideal but there is no access to this property on the Chord object

The reason I asked for a clarification on the notes was because the A above middle C (in treble clef) would already be up-stem if the stem direction was determined automatically. (I guess the stem direction was changed manually)
