Differing Notation between Parts

• May 4, 2024 - 21:11

I'm writing a duet for piano and violin. The piano part will have the violin part on it (in small staff). The problem is that there is a rather high passage in the violin part, and I want to have it written differently on the two parts. On the violin part, I want it to be displayed with ledger lines (no 8va, for readability), and on the piano part, I want it to be displayed an octave down with 8va (no ledger lines, to save space). If I try to change this in either part, it automatically applies my changes to the other part. Deselecting "Position" or "Style/Appearance" under "synchronization with the main score" does not seem to help, as this is not what they were designed for. Is there any way to do this yet in MuseScore 4? Thanks :)

Note: I realize that I can simply duplicate the project and change this one thing or export it once in each way, but there should be a way to do this.

Sorry, I can't help you with the Parts, but as a violin player (admittedly, a crappy one :-), I disagree with your statement that putting the high violin part on ledger lines makes for easier readability. I would definitely find the 8va easier to read.
