Frustration with just basic stuff from a new user - on Mac OS X

• Nov 15, 2009 - 18:57

Just got MuseScore 0.9.5 today.

Trying to write out some guitar scale scores.

Can't add a clef to the beginning of each line.

Can't add a new key sig. to the beginning of a line.

Can't delete (or "cut") bars that I've added.

Can't end a line without a bar.

Can't create a score without a time sign. (implied or otherwise), or with no bar lines.

BTW: four crashes today - most for any Mac app. I've ever used.

Holy Mackerel, this is the least intuitive interface program I've encountered. Is it me, or do others feel the same way?

I'm willing to concede ignorance of music scoring, but wow, I know exactly what I want to put down, paralleling the scoring style of an existing piece, and it's just impossible (apparently) to do with this tool. Please help!

make that five crashes - this one's repeatable.

Open a score, add a start-repeat bar to the beginning of a line; select it so it highlights blue; hit command-x (cut); bar disappears; hit command-x again, MuseScore crashes.

OS-X, MuseScore 0.9.5

Thank you for report the crash with clear steps to reproduce it. I added the bug to the issue tracker: http://www.musescore.org/en/node/3458

With regards to your difficulties getting started, take a look through the handbook. It has lots of information. The information in the palette page may help with most of the problems it sounds like you are having.

By the way, keep those bug reports coming. They help ensure the next release is better than the previous.
