Command-drag an object doesn't work as it usually does

• Jan 26, 2023 - 18:20

Usually, I'll add a Rehearsal Mark to name a section (Verse, Prechorus etc.) or maybe I'm adding some system text and then often I'll hold command and drag that rehearsal mark to the right because it's always centered over the barline whereas I want it to be sitting over the bar. If you just drag with the mouse, you can move it freely. In Musescore 3, Command and then dragging would lock the vertical axis and only drag the object horizontally. For some reason, this doesn't work as expected anymore. I hold command, and as soon I start dragging the object it jumps down to a spot that much closer to the staff that's below it which negates the whole reason I was using this shortcut in the first place. Shift and drag is supposed to lock the horizontal axis while draggin and command is supposed to lock the vertical axis. Has something changed? Is there a new shortcut or is it a bug?

thanks.. I'll check it out.. useful to have.. however the issue I have seems to be a bug.. not a lack of knowledge about shortcuts.. when you hold command and drag an object, it used to lock the vertical axis so the object only moves horizontally. When I try to do that now, the object jumps down closer to the staff before moving horizontally.

Ah, ok, I see what you mean. The first time I try to move the rehearsal mark via CTRL+Drag, it snaps to the top line in the staff. If I move the rehearsal mark higher and then CTRL+Drag, the rehearsal mark remains on the vertical. So yes, probably a bug. Maybe it has already been reported on GitHub or on the issue tracker? Have you checked there yet?
