Recreate .mscz file from .pdf file compiled by MuseScore

• Jul 17, 2009 - 08:19

Hi, I just transcribed a Bach prelude using MuseScore, and I converted this file to a pdf. I then decided to delete this file, use it as a template for writing up the fugue, and saving it as a different file so that the prelude would not get overwritten. However, I neglected to turn off autosave, which I had on while I was writing out the prelude (MuseScore seems to crash quite a lot...).

So, a summary of what happened:

I finished transcribing the prelude.
I saved the prelude as a .pdf file.
I erased the whole of the prelude.
MuseScore autosaved
I started transcribing the Fugue
I saved the fugue as a different file.
I realized that there were a few errors in my transcription of the prelude
I tried to go back to the prelude
I realized the prelude was overwritten.

So is there a way to recreate the mscz file MuseScore reads off from the pdf file (which MuseScore created)? Or, failing that, is there a way to convert the pdf file into some other format used by typesetting software (xml, ly, etc)?

Thanks for the help
