Get type (whole, half, quarter,...) in plugin

Hi,
is there a way to retrieve something similar to musicxml's type in a plugin (MuseScore 3.6.2) for both notes and rests? I can't find this attribute in the classes which kind of surprises me. I am aware that these are graphical attributes and for rest the duration may differ. On a related note, how to extract the number of dots from a rest? For notes i got it to work with note.dots.length
